How to Feng Shui Your Bedroom? Here are Several Ways for You

The first ways of how to Feng Shui your bedroom is the position. Position your bed as far away from the door as possible and out of the direct line of the door. Avoid putting it under a window, which lacks the symbolic support and protection of a solid wall and can lead to fitful sleep as energy enters and exits through the window. Invest in a wooden headboard as it can provide strength and support to your head. Also, it is ideal to choose your bedroom in the room furthest away from the front door. On a subliminal level, this gives you the extra feeling of protection, stability and security. They say that the worst possible place is to have your bedroom facing or close to the front door, however being realistic, sometimes you don’t have much choice- so follow the other tips I have listed and do the best with the space you have.

To create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere paint your bedroom neutral colors such as terracotta, cream or peach, colors like light blue, green or lavender will create a tranquil vibe and invite healing energy. If you are looking to spice up your love life stick with pinks and reds, which will increase the romance in your life, although limit the use of such color to slight accents; bright color such as red, or orange, yellow etc, are often associated with Yang which can be too stimulating for the bedroom. Then, clutter in your bedroom prevents the free-flowing of Chi. However, don’t solve the problem by putting everything under the bed, this will block energy and lead to stagnation in life. Consider the objects that you have in your room, remove any work related items, and any objects that hold past memories that are best forgotten; as teddy bears from a past relationship. Also, remove items such as TVs, exercise equipment and computers, they take up a lot of energy and can distract you from rest and romance. If you must have these items in you room then it is best to use a screen to hide them whilst sleeping or keep your television set in a cupboard so that it can all be shut out.

For a note, make sure your feet don’t point out the door while in bed. In traditional Chinese culture, this is called the “Death Position” because the deceased are carried out feet first. Practitioners believe sleeping this way can drain your life force. If you can’t avoid it, use a footboard or a substantial trunk or other piece of furniture at the foot of your bed. Finally, leave enough room around the bed for energy to flow freely, and for each partner to get up with ease. Always use curves not corners, sharp corners on bedroom furniture act as ‘poison arrows’ directing positive energy away from you and creating an uneasy environment. To alleviate this drape fabric over the sharp edges to create fluidity.

If your single and wish to be partnered up then decorate your room as if you already are; place side tables and lamps on both side of the bed. Accessorize in pairs and ensure that everything is symmetrical. For those already in a relationship consider the bed your love shrine, place loving items on the bedside tables such as a photograph (the photo should not be a family pic but of you and your partner), a pair of candles and a rounded (not spiky) leafed plant- remember to place a few pink or red accent in and around the bed to encourage romance. The next ways about how to feng shui your bedroom is do a common Feng Shui trick.  A common Feng Shui trick is to place pictures, art or items around the room that represent what you would like to see in your own life- such as inner peace, love or success. A carefully chosen piece of art can have an impact on your own personal achievements.

Do not to place a mirror opposite, next to, or over the bed. This will bounce too much energy around the room to allow for good rest, and will magnify problems and worries – and it is thought that mirrors in the bedroom can invite a third party to interfere in your relationship. The only cure to such a dilemma is to hang decorative material or curtains in front of the offensive mirror, cover them up when you retire for the night or if possible turn the mirror away from the bed. Lighting is an important factor in Feng Shui, encourage natural light into your room by using blinds that can easily be opened in the morning encouraging the light and shut at night blocking out the dark. Balance light from a ceiling light with several low lying lamps which will cast a softer glow across your room; calming the energy of the space down at night. Lastly, don’t forget to place a plant in the corner of your room to prevent energy stagnating there and increase the Zen by limiting what’s on your night stand to a lamp, a couple of inspirational books, a picture you love and a plant or fresh flowers. These were some ways that you can try to achieve a better room, a good bedroom that can lead positive effects for your life. There’s nothing wrong to try Feng Shui, instead so many benefits you will get.

I second the recommendation for an energy audit. I had a certified contractor an audit, and then he presented me with options, stating cost and estimated payback period. My had a program which gave me a rebate of ~10% of any improvements I made from those options, and on top of that I got $400 from my utility to the air sealing. I paid about $400 for the audit itself, and of course now NY has a program running where you can an audit for $50. If your spot offers these programs, advantage! I had my contractor do the blown in cellulose insulation into my attic and the second walls (the walls were completely un-insulated), and it has made a difference. In the winter, the second was not liveable. Now, there is only ~5 deg contrast between first and second floors.

@kimithy What a crummy experience with a landlord! Our family owns one rental site, and we often reimburse our gargantuan tenants for materials for improvements to the property–with discussion and approval, inspection of the completed work, and appropriate receipts.

while I usually side with Redbeard about I know too about MDF to that $900 is an appropriate price-point for this object. Imagine the first person to leave a glass of water on a hot day. The conclude is going to be ruined. What I a lot of designers lose is the real-world practicality of materials. MDF in itself is a material – provided you protect the surface from moisture and scratches. This should be MDF with a laminate top ala the Saarinen table and it would be good. And the by about 40%.

We hang ornaments across our kitchen/dining rooms glass windows and doors. The first year, it was ornaments. Blue was next followed by silver. This year I happened to visit a Hobby Lobby and was amazed at all the decorations. So this year Christmas will be a bit on the “Goth” side using and silver. Who knows what color theme will be next year. Any suggestions??

You can consume sunglasses/eyeglasses cleaning solutions which is exactly what those expensive Monster cleaners are for your television. They about a 2% alcohol answer and so it will clean better than water but not your screen. You can also a really diluted version yourself by diluting alcohol and distilled water and it in a spray bottle. A higher alcohol proportioned spray works as as febreeze without the scent.

@S.Davenport–Melamine is combined with formaldehyde to melamine resin, a durable thermosetting plastic in Formica, dinnerware, laminate flooring, dry erase boards, as fire-retardant, insulation, and to alter protein readings in milk, fish & animal feed, despite retention by body until at toxic level. It also can be layered over subgrade furniture (particleboard, mdf); seems to be more heat & water-resistant than thermofoil.

Tuesday-I’m a part-time artist so I’m always checking out the art in shelter mags. That’s the only reason I remembered it! I’ve got the BL here at the office but the article and the where to buy in the assist don’t say anything about where Bennett got the piece. Mackenzie is described as being an “outsider artist” so you might try adding that when searching online. (would absorb sooner but my grass shack here in Honolulu doesn’t bear internet access and we’re 6 hours NYC) Why don’t you your art piece? You could substitute your (or guilty favorite) shows.Regarding the bee demonstrate discussion–sorry patrick (t.o.o.), this is not an OTC drug-induced dream. You really did that.

I it, but my element was there before – the tiled columns, which beat the gray ones that are in my basement. I agree with a previous comment about water in basements and ruining the beautiful furniture and aesthetic rugs. I my basement unfinished, because even though we spent a fortune on grading, drainage and watertight windows, it could wet in a heavy mid-western rain or thaw.

I had this posed before….Although I cannot personally guarantee that no fibers will in contact with your skin, I searched for a hypoallergenic alternative for those that are allergic. My results advance up with Alpaca as it has been dubbed as hypoallergenic. That being said, the only reason it is considered hypoallergenic is because it bears no lanolin. (

…..I shop the after christmas clearance for the next year. I a 6pack kit of wrapping paper and bow from hallmark sitting in the linen closet. I got it at 75% off and its all I will need. I also absorb stocking stuffers cards ect. As long as you avoid the fad/ trendy stuff no one knows. I try to always aim for classic red, green and white or any combination of the three. Then I can add glitter ect on my own. The best is, it all fits on the extremely top shelf of the linen closet. Which is perfect because I never consume that shelf anyways. Im far to short to approach up there normally. I also gifts through out the year. If I something that reminds me of someone or that I know they will devour at a descent I buy it and store it under my bed. If I cant acquire something that I know someone will I them a gift card. I dont want anyone going through the concern of returning something.

Last year I left my husband and literally had nothing for my house. I bought a sectional, ottoman, table, tv stand, dining room table with two chairs, and a bedroom with the bed, mattress, dresser, and dresser with a mirror for a over $3,000. I purchased them at a local furniture store, looked for sales and they “discounted” a few hundred dollars because I was buying multiple items. I am with my purchases. Having furniture made coming to my “empty” home enjoyable.

A degreaser works as well for marks on laminate. I Bug Off, which gets bugs off cars, and Arm & Hammer Degreaser works extremely well.BTW The to protect laminate surfaces is with furniture paste wax. It will restore a laminate to contemplate new, magic. Beware, if you employ the amber paste on light laminate it will the color of the wax.

I grew up in Nova Scotia. We always call the mid day meal dinner and the main meal supper. I was so confused when I moved to Toronto and heard people calling supper, dinner. They it was extremely provincial of me. I composed it sounds bourgeois and pretentious to a ‘dinner party’ and not people over for supper.

Also, if you are driving to your vacation destination, remember to a I seperate spare of keys. My boyfriend drove four hours up north with family, lost his keys. His dad drove him half to meet me with the spare set. Then they drove to his car, then had to drive all the seperately. A lot of unneccesary driving if you are unprepared.I bet it would cost less to a locksmith than for all that driving. Hindsight is 20/20…

Thanks for the list of ingredients. So many house tours and such talk about “unexpected uses” and “clever touches” without spelling out what those might be. I absorb kids bouncing off the walls while I read this website on a micro-laptop so I the bulleted list so I can really understand what the unexpected and clever details might be.

GPS is an invaluable tool. Since acquiring mine, I archaic in it in Austin, LA, Atlanta and Tuscany. While not always perfect, it is a improvement over having to read a (especially if you are driving alone).

Thank you so for all your comments about our home. Mary, the lady who lived in the house and raised her family here, did not explore what we did as she moved out of town, but her sister did by to visit and was pleased. We felt a grand responsibility to the integrity of the for Mary but we also needed to modernize and freshen the home up (we even kept the bumpy plaster ceilings – but that might bear been because we ran out of budget!).

Comments about the room:-Positives:The fresh layout and some of the color schemes really invites light into the room, a needed improvement.Once a diminutive looking room, the addition of mirrors the room spaciousThe addition of the chandelier was a but bright move-Negatives:The room colors seem to be a bit too grand hospital bask in to me.The computer desk and the chair do not match. The striped comforter does not match the pillow patterns.I the dresser and the wardrobe should match in color. and the dresser is a bit too tall/big.Apart from that, I guess there is a lot opinionated comments here but what can you do??? People sometimes things too personally. You assign it on the internet, you are to people who bask in or it.Cheers-

A green plant that can handle extreme levels of light would wonders for the space. I agree with the rest of the posters – orange couch stays, add pillows and art on the walls.

For the last several years I called my phone company to my landline and then they offer me a deal to stay. With the discounts because they are my internet provider also, my land line costs me $2 a month. Never to hurts to call and the best deal possible, some phone companies also a lifeline service which is a bare minimum number of minutes, enough for emergencies.

Darlene –Same thing happened to me with a mattress & box spring in my 4th floor pre-war Brooklyn up (86ish stairs.) Guy showed up in a dinky car w dental floss string & nobody to him carry it down. He expected ME to it AND tie it to his car, AND he tried to pay me $50 less than we had agreed on. I made him pay me before the mattress went out the door, then I told him he was on his own!

I actually did this a few months ago, complete with buying jars to store my dry goods. I also rearranged how I store everything. I am fortunate to absorb loads of cabinet and I also absorb a cramped coat closet off of my kitchen that was not being broken-down for its intended purpose as I having a coat rack by the door coming in from the garage, so I had my boyfriend install some shelves. This is where I keep cereal, canned goods and dry goods. This works better than my pantry cabinet because my pantry cabinet is somewhat narrow and deep with no out drawers, so it was difficult to what all I had. Now I consume that cabinet to store my food containers, my of dishes and snacks chips, crackers and popcorn. I one whole of upper cabinets for my baking supplies, which I into jars from Ikea.

Hi, thanks for all the comments! This contest was a incentive to all the work on my condo I been putting off.The Bed of Death is a perfect to chronicle the guest bed. For the narrate I am a daughter and the Bed of Death while my mom gets the main bed. I tested rolling over the rail and you bear to be rolling at a edifying force to over the rail but I will freely admit that the bed does not into the category. You to your knee onto my office desk to comfortably in the Death Bed.Sorry about the quality of the photos. I never wanted a camera as as when I was picking/taking these photos. The walls in exact life are a gray/blue as davidasposted said.Pixie; The main sleeping is off to the east of the guest bed. There is the “office” and a walkway between the two.Jenny!: Anytime. :)davidasposted: I agree that a rug would soften up the especially a * or flokati but every time I one down my cat immediately makes them “not so nice”. I bear considerate of given up. Suggestions for a non-rug flooring piece?TheCount: I live in the top floor with 4 windows located across from the sofa. There is no natural light in the photos because I took the photos at 11pm scrambling to them in before the contest closed.Again thanks for all the comments!Monica
